Dr. Olga M. Garcia obtained her M.Ed. in Special Education (1979) and M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology at Boston College (1981). After working as a special educator and school counselor for six years, in 1987 she attended California State University, L A., for her School Psychology Credential. Olga worked with children within the school district for 13 years starting as a special education teacher, counselor and school psychologist.
In 1991 Olga returned to Puerto Rico to obtain her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Puerto Rico Institute of Psychology (part of the Miami Institute of Psychology). As part of her doctoral internship program Olga received special training and experience with post-traumatic stress disorder victims and survivors of sexual abuse.
Upon moving to Florida, Olga worked at The Children's Psychiatric Center in Miami from 1998 to 2000, providing therapeutic services to children and their families. She is presently a member of the American Psychological Association, The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, The Florida Society of Clinical Hypnosis and recently trained in Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
In August 2000 Olga joined Child's Psychology Associates, P.A. to continue her work with children and families.
